Exclusive Autosport maintains second in the team and driver championship standings

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Exclusive Autosport headed to NOLA Motorsports Park this past weekend for their first tripleheader event of the season. The combined St Petersburg results of the team’s trio of drivers – Jack Jeffers, Evan Cooley and Lucas Fecury – meant that they entered the weekend sitting second place in the team championship standings, as well as second place in the overall driver's championship standings.

On the strength of two runner-up finishes in Florida, Jeffers was P2 to start the event, and he delivered a second-place finish in Race 1 and followed with two more top-five finishes to maintain second in the standings. Cooley added his first podium of the year with a third in Race 2, and his trio of top-10 finishes has moved him to fourth in the standings. Fecury did not lay down the qualifying times he wanted, but he leveraged his experience and moved forward in all three races to record a best finish of eighth in Race 1.

“It was a good weekend for the Exclusive Autosport USF2000 squad, turning out some solid results in two podium finishes,” said Michael Duncalfe, Co-Owner and CEO. “I’m very happy for the team that we achieved those, but we are by no means content. We will continue to push our development and education for our drivers to continue challenging for the top spots.”

The weekend kicked off Thursday with unofficial practice, followed by official practice and the first of two qualifying sessions on Friday. Early Saturday morning, the drivers would cap off the two qualifying sessions before their first race later that afternoon. After the green flag flew for Race 1, all three drivers charged towards the front. Jeffers moved himself from third to second on the opening lap, where he would finish the race. Cooley and Fecury were embroiled in a battle with their competitors, resulting in eighth and ninth-place finishes, respectively.

Sunday morning would start with Cooley on the outside pole, and once the green flag flew, he jumped into first place and went on to lead a number of laps before settling into second. While in second, he battled with Thomas Schrage, who would eventually grab the second spot, placing Evan in third, where he would finish the race, gathering his first podium of the year. Jeffers and Fecury didn’t have the starting spots they desired for Race 2, but they both moved themselves forward, with Jack finishing fifth and Lucas moving up six positions to 11th, resulting in ‘Hard Charger’ honors.

Later that afternoon, the drivers capped off their weekend with Race 3. After the original start was waved off, the race went green to checkered without incident. While Fecury was able to move up a number of spots to go from 19th to 15th in the early going, both Jeffers and Cooley would settle in and finish fourth and fifth. The team maintains second in the team and the driver championship standings. Cooley moved himself up to the fourth spot in the standings, with Fecury moving up one spot to 14th.

With NOLA now in the rearview mirror, the team has headed back to the shop in Brownsburg to prepare their USF Juniors cars for their second round of the season at Barber Motorsports Park, where Kaylee Countryman and Brenden Cooley will make their NTT INDYCAR SERIES weekend debut on May 1-3.
