CARMEL, Ind. – The USF Pro Championships Presented by Continental Tire remains in Indiana for the month but will turn and face their first and only oval race of the season this weekend at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. The race event, also known as the Carb Night Classic, runs in tandem with the Indy 500 and the Month of May celebrations. Drivers will take to the 0.686-mile oval track starting Wednesday and will conclude Friday in a different schedule than competitors are used to.
Jay Howard Driver Development will return with their sole driver Frankie Mossman in USF Pro 2000 while four drivers, Tanner DeFabis, Evagoras Papasavvas, Michael Costello and G3 Argyros will compete in USF2000.
“The oval race at Lucas Oil Raceway Park is always something we look forward to yearly,” says Team Owner Jay Howard. “The speeds are high and the battles are close on an oval. It’ll be a quick turnaround for a race but switching it up to an oval course always brings excitement for the fans and the drivers.”
The action-packed weekend will kick off with a test day on Wednesday followed by more testing on Thursday. The day will culminate with qualifying. On Friday, the final practice will serve as a warm-up to the evening's races. The USF2000 drivers will battle it out in the Freedom 75 race, followed by the USF Pro 2000 drivers competing in the Freedom 90.
